Marc’s astonishing comeback without reward

245 days since the 2019 Valencia GP, the MotoGP World Championship roared back to life at the Gran Premio Red Bull de España as the premier class made a welcome return to racing. Temperatures were once again the main talk of the grid, the track at 53°C as ambient temperatures pushed above 30°C.

Tension was palpable on the grid as the reduced 20-rider field waited for the lights to go out. Marc Marquez’s race got off to a lightning start and he quickly moved into the lead, until a moment on Lap 5 almost ended his race but for another Marquez miracle save. Dropping down the order, Marc lapped at an incredible pace once back on track and produced one of the most impressive rides of his career as he charged back from 19th and a 9.3 second deficit. Consistently lapping in the mid to low 1’38s while those at the front were in the high 1’38s, the Honda RC213V rider quickly closed the gap to the podium battle with his superior pace. Charging through the field, Marc joined the battle for second place with five laps to go with Viñales just a few metres ahead. Unfortunately, a vicious high side at Turn 3 would end the dream comeback and result in a broken right humerus.

The Repsol Honda Team would like to wish Marc Marquez, Cal Crutchlow and Alex Rins speedy recoveries. Marquez and Crutchlow will travel to the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona, where they are aiming to be operated on by Dr Xavier Mir and his team on Tuesday, July 21st. Marc has suffered a transverse diaphyseal fracture to his right humerus while the Britain from the LCR Honda Team, who crashed in Warm Up, has suffered a small fracture on his left scaphoid.  He will undergo arthroscopy surgery to insert a small fixing pin.

The Official Fan Club Marc Márquez 93 celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

This 2020 the Official Fan Club Marc Márquez 93 celebrates its 10th Anniversary. It was founded in 2010 by its president, Ramon Márquez, just before Marc got his first 125cc World Championship. During these ten years the Fan Club has been able to enjoy all of Marc’s achievements with all the fans, adding up to eight World Titles, six of them in the MotoGP class.

The Fan Club has one main goal: to enjoy races and to unconditionally support Marc Márquez in his career.

The Fan Club will not be able to celebrate these 10 years as we wanted, due to the exceptional situation we are living with the Covid-19, but we want to surprise Marc Márquez with a commemorative video of these ten years.

The huge family of the Official Fan Club Marc Márquez 93 continues to grow up with Marc’s successes at the highest category, and currently already has more than 4.000 members who can enjoy the advantages for being members of the Fan Club.

Ramon Márquez Letter – Official Fan Club Marc Márquez president

“This is a special year for the Official Fan Club Marc Márquez 93 as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary.

With the exceptional situation that we are living due to Covid19, fans will not be able to travel to the circuits or be in the tribunes near Marc, but now the priority is everyone’s health, and try to overcome this situation as soon as possible, this should ensure that we can go back to the circuits and celebrate it together and see each other again.

This week the World Championship is starting again and from the distance I encourage you to continue supporting Marc and hopefully it will be a year full of success.

I would also use this opportunity to congratulate the entire Fan Club family. Thanks to all who have voluntarily helped us during these years, in the celebrations in Cervera, at the final seasonal dinner, and in the circuit tribunes, without all of them the Fan Club would not be what it is now: a big family.

It is also a pride to see how we started ten years ago being only a few people and now, step by step, we have been growing ending with a great fan club with more than 4.000 members who all enjoy together the successes of Marc Márquez.

I would like to end by remembering that we have not been sitting around doing nothing during this exceptional situation caused by the Covid19, and we also wanted to join the project of the Márquez brothers by selling protective masks with a special design such as the solidarity helmet that they will wear at the Jerez GP. All the benefits will be donated to Red Cross Plan Response. Congratulations to all and for 10 years more! “

Marc Márquez will wear a solidarity helmet at the Jerez GP

Marc Márquez will wear a solidarity helmet at the Jerez GP that they will auction with Allianz to fight against the Covid-19 crisis

The riders Marc Márquez and Alex Márquez continue to show solidarity with all the people who are suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and for this reason, they will start the 2020 World Championship at the Jerez Grand Prix wearing a special helmet that will serve to raise money together with Allianz Seguros.

The design of this helmet is a tribute to the entire society that has suffered and continues to suffer due to this pandemic, both to professionals in the different basic sectors who have worked tirelessly to keep essential services active, and to all the people who have been confined at home all this time and who are now gradually returning to normal life.

“Pushing Ahead Together” is the motto that they will use on the helmet to send a message of solidarity, gratitude and hope, thanking society for adapting to the circumstances in order to get through this situation together.

Marc and Alex will wear the helmet on a very special day as it will be the first time that they will compete together officially in the MotoGP category.

Both riders will donate these special helmets, gloves and boots to a charity auction. The auction will start on Friday, July 17 at 12 noon and will end on Monday, July 27 at 8:00p.m., through the Catawiki online platform. http://www.catawiki.es/Marquezforcovid19

Allianz Seguros, personal sponsor of Marc Márquez and Alex Márquez, will join the initiative of the brothers, promoting the project and helping the fight against Covid-19 by donating the equivalent of 250 sets of medical equipment for health service personnel. This action is in addition to the various initiatives the company has taken to fight the coronavirus, such as the sponsorship of the OxyGEN emergency respirators.

Once the auction is over, all of the money raised will be donated to Red Cross Plan Response who will be responsible for distributing the funds in the best possible way and to those most in need.

Marc Márquez: “After two and a half months of isolation and after seeing the crisis caused by Covid-19, I wanted to somehow pay tribute to all the people who have suffered and continue to suffer due to this pandemic and also to all the professionals who have worked tirelessly during this period. After much thought and talking with my brother Alex, we thought that the option of making a helmet with a special design would be a nice tribute to all of them, and at the same time, with the auction after the Grand Prix, we can add another grain of sand towards combating this pandemic.”

Solidarity protective face masks MM93

The Official Marc Márquez Fan Club and the Official Álex Márquez Fan Club will also join the solidarity initiative and will sell protective masks with this special design via the online store and the Cervera store. In this way everyone who wants to show solidarity with the cause will be able to buy them at a price of 10€, and all the full benefits will be donated to Red Cross Plan Response. Buy it here.
