MARQUEZ IN TOP FORM AHEAD OF ARAGON GP

Marc Marquez has two victories at MotorLand Aragon: One in Moto2 in 2009 and another in MotoGP in 2013. The Spaniard has a 43-point lead in the MotoGP standings with 5 races remaining, and is the only rider to have scored points at every race this season.

The MotoGP World Championship reaches its fourteenth round of the season at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in Spain –one of the most special events for Marc Marquez. The rider from Cervera arrives at Aragon as the series leader with 223 points, 43 ahead of the rider in second place with 5 races remaining. He will be one of the main protagonists at one of the closest races to his native city, and a track where he has a win in both Moto2 and MotoGP –as well as 5 pole positions from 6 races.

Marc Marquez: “Aragon is a circuit that I like more than Misano, and I think it suits my riding style better. That said, it’s also true that a particularity of this year is that things may change a lot from race to race, so we’ll see if we’re able to manage things well and if we can have a good weekend. We’ll approach the race ready to adapt to the situation we encounter, but of course we’ll try to fight for the podium again in front of my home crowd and my fan club”.

MÁRQUEZ REPEATS FOURTH POSITION, NOW AT MISANO

Marc Marquez finishes fourth and salvages points from a difficult race in the San Marino Gran Prix, which is the 13th round of the MotoGP World Championship.

Marquez, did not enjoy a repeat of the good feelings and placed off the podium, taking a fourth position that nevertheless keeps him as MotoGP World championship leader with a 43-point lead over Rossi.

Marquez has fought until the end in Misano to get a podium position after being fourth in the qualifying. In fact, with 15 laps left, he was third after overtaking Viñales.  But after some problems with the front tyre, the rider preferred not to take risks and get a fourth position that gives him some valuable points which allows him to keep being the leader of the Championship.

Marc Marquez: Today’s race was complicated and it was perhaps not one of my better days. I went out with great desire and I felt strong, able to recover the ground I had lost on the first few laps and close in on Valentino [Rossi] and Jorge [Lorenzo]. Then I saw I had problems with the front tyre, because I was losing it a lot. When Dani [Pedrosa] passed me, I tried to follow him, but I saw that it was more likely that I would crash than finish on the podium, so I concentrated on finishing the race. We have to keep improving, but the positive thing is that we only lost a few points on a weekend that had been good but that we weren’t able to capitalize in the race. Now we are very motivated for Aragon”.

MARQUEZ STARTS FINAL THIRD OF MOTOGP SEASON AT MISANO

Marc Marquez has achieved victory at Misano in three classes: Once in 125cc (2010), twice in Moto2 (2011 and 2012) and once in MotoGP (2015).He gets to San Marino being the only rider in the World Championship to have scored points at every Grand Prix.

With little rest after an exciting race at Silverstone, the MotoGP World Championship travels to Misano, Italy, for its thirteenth round of the season. The Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini takes place this weekend, and Marc Marquez comes into the event still leading the series. He won at last year’s event, and also has victories there in all three classes (125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP). Marquez leads the standings with 210 points, 50 ahead of his nearest rival.

Marc Marquez: “All in all we got an okay result in England, as even though we didn’t make the ideal choice with the front tyre, in the end we lost just three points. Now we head to Misano, which is quite a different track as it is twisty and slow. In San Marino I expect to fight again for the podium if we work well during the weekend. I’m happy to go racing in Italy, where I really hope the weather will be nice and give us the chance to make the most of every session“.

CHAMPIONSHIP LEADER MARC MÁRQUEZ FINISHED FOURTH AT BRITISH GP

Marc fought for the podium until the penultimate lap.

The British Grand Prix provided a thrilling spectacle with the MotoGP race, in which Marc Márquez fought for the podium until the penultimate lap. A group consisting of Cal Crutchlow, Valentino Rossi, Andrea Iannone, Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa battled for second place during the race, behind eventual maiden racewinner Maverick Viñales. In an attempt to pass Crutchlow for second, two laps from the chequered flag, Marquez ran wide and lost places to Rossi and Pedrosa. The World Championship leader managed to overtake his teammate on the final lap, as both finished just one second off the podium. With two-thirds of the season completed, Marquez still leads the series with 210 points, 50 ahead of his nearest rival.

Marc Márquez: “Today was one of those difficult Sundays because there were many ways of approaching the race, with many options for both the front and rear tyres. Perhaps we got it wrong with the front, because we chose the soft tyre, but that was what we thought was best before the race. I realised the mistake once the race was underway, and from there I decided to make the most of the situation. It’s a pity that I went wide under braking when fighting for second place, but in the end we rectified the situation quite well. We finished fourth and only lost three points from our overall advantage, which is what matters to us“.
